Congratulations 2018 Masters Champion Ty Smith

    Good Day Masters Bowlers!

This year’s tourney ran reasonably smooth except when I had to run down lane 12 to fetch a kid!! We had many close matches with Ty Smith defeating Frank Pacheco in the final match 623-590. The qualifying had 22 bowlers along with the 2 seeded bowlers for an entry count of 24, six more bowlers than last year. This also increased the overall prize fund so we could pay out a bit better than 2017.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company - 805

Firestone Walker Brewing Company 805 Beer was our major sponsor.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, they are always appreciated. Their names are listed on the scoring monitors.

Overall, our scores were lower than in many past years. The pattern chosen was a Women’s Open Championship 3-1 ratio which typically plays a bit softer, allowing for better scoring. Not this year. The lanes were tough and strikes were difficult to put together, which places a premium on spare shooting. This was not our intent and in the future, we will work to have a better scoring environment.

In closing, I want to thank all of the bowlers, sponsors and my volunteers, Diane Takeuchi, Charity Hill and Laura Lum. As well as my bowling desk staff Jose, Jacob, Erica and Emma.

Thanks and see you next year,

    Respectfully submitted,

    Steve Davis
    Tournament Manager
